What kinds of sermons have you heard on the subject of prayer?  That’s a loaded question!  Perhaps most sermons you’ve heard on this subject  have focused on “praying more.”  Such homilies  are characteristically sprinkled with examples of ancient saints that spent hours in prayer every day of their life.

Could it be that you have just not heard very many sermons on prayer at all?  I would like to think that is not true, but that is not beyond the realm of possibility.  Dan Rouse will kick off this new series of sermons February 14thby exploring the depths of the Lord’s Prayer.

Here is a listing of upcoming sermons on prayer of all subjects. I purposely titled this series “Opening to God.”

February 21st.

As the Deer…

What does the experience of longing for God fee like?  This sermon will shaped by Psalm 42.

February 28th

You are in for a special treat. Gil Sanchez, who serves as executive director for Casa De La Esparanza will address the church.

March 6th

The Prayer of Tears…

Praying with a broken and contrite is painful.  But God shapes us in particular ways during such times.  Psalm 51 will be the primary focus in this sermon.

March 13th

The Prayer of Relinquishment…

Surrendering our will to Him…Is that “church talk” or is it a real pursuit? We will travel back to the moments preceding the arrest of Jesus in this sermon by examining Luke 22:39-46.

March 20th

The Prayer of Examen

To God be the glory!  How is God working in your life?  Are you giving thanks to Him on a regular basis?  A walk through Psalm 139 will occur in this sermon.
